State calls final witnesses in Avril Gordon assault case

The state has called its last two witnesses in the case of domestic abuse survivor Avril Gordon.

Gordon's daughter, Valerie Shaw, and police forensic analyst Mathys Hoffman gave evidence in the PE regional court on Monday about the brutal assault that landed Gordon in hospital in March 2011.

Shaw told the court that no human deserved to go through what her mother had experienced.

Gordon's husband, Frederick has pleaded not guilty to charges of rape, kidnapping and attempted murder.

He will present his defence on Friday.
