Pedestrian killed on N2 near Standford Road footbridge

Police in Gqeberha are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a pedestrian was killed while crossing the N2 underneath the Stanford Road footbridge.

Spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, says the man was seen suddenly running across the road before he was hit by the 53-year-old driver of a white Mitsubishi bakkie just before midday on Friday.

Beetge says the deceased who is believed to be in his fifties has not yet been identified.

He says further details surrounding the incident are being investigated, while the eye-witness accounts of several people have been recorded.
