Police in Despatch are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a pedestrian was killed in Main Road on Saturday night.
Spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart says a 47-year-old woman was crossing the street with her boyfriend when she was hit at about 18.20.
She says the woman was walking in front of her boyfriend and was hit by the motorcycle when she crossed the road.
According to witnesses the couple did not see or hear the motorcycle.
The woman died on the scene and her name has not yet been released as she must still be formally identified.
The driver of the motorcycle also sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
