Police in Cookhouse in the Eastern Cape have opened a culpable homicide docket after a pedestrian was knocked down and killed on Monday morning.
Spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, said that the deceased was identified as Jackson Faku.
He said it was alleged that the 29-year-old driver of a Renault sedan collided with Faku who was crossing the N10, about four kilometres from Cookhouse.
Rawlinson said Faku was declared dead on the scene by EMS personnel while the driver of the car was not injured.
The accident led to a back-up of traffic on the N10 while authorities were busy at the scene.
