Peddie learners in hospital for food poisoning

Eighteen pupils from Peddie have been admitted to hospital for food poisoning.

The Eastern Cape Health Department says they were admitted earlier on Friday, after experiencing conditions such as vomiting, stomach cramps, and headaches.

Department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo says they ate chocolate which they bought from a local vendor, which is believed to have caused the problems.

Kupelo says last week, 24 people fell ill after they ate meat from a dead cow in Dutywa, and six boys were also treated in hospital after they drank sour milk which they bought at a local spaza shop in Peddie.
