A 58-year-old Port Elizabeth woman is officially considered to be missing after a fire gutted her home on the Goedemoetsfontein smallholding in Kragga Kamma.
A 65-year-old wheelchair-bound man died in Sunday morning's blaze while a 60-year-old man managed to escape the blaze.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Alwin Labans, says Margaret Bentley's remains were not found inside the gutted house but he confirmed that an animal also perished in the fire.
Labans says no one has been able to contact Bentley.
