PE woman robbed and raped in her home in Overbaakens

Police in Port Elizabeth are on a manhunt for two suspects who robbed and raped a woman in her home in Overbaakens.

According to police, the 62-year-old woman got woken up at around 3 am on Saturday when she heard the dogs barking. She then heard voices outside and immediately phoned her neighbour.

A police spokesperson said while the victim was still on the phone the suspects kicked her kitchen door open.

She managed to lock herself in the garage but the suspects forced it open and dragged her back into the house.

The men, who were armed with knives, asked for money and took an undisclosed amount of cash from her handbag.

One of the men also raped her in the bathroom.

Police said the men ran off when they realised that police arrived on the scene.

A cell phone and DVD player was also stolen.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
