PE woman killed in shack fire

A woman was killed on Thursday night when her shack burnt down in the Vastrap informal settlement at Booysen's Park in Port Elizabeth.

Police have named the victim as 52 year-old Shirley Louis.

Warrant Officer Alwin Labans says the women's daughter had seen her mother's shack burning but it was too late to save her.

Two neighbouring shacks also caught alight.

Police have opened an inquest docket.
