A 52-year-old Port Elizabeth woman was gunned down on Wednesday in what police believe was a “suspected hit”.
Police spokesperson, Captain said Ntombi-zonke Dywili was leaving her home in Lukwe Street in Kwazakhele for work when she was shot several times at close range.
He said police “strongly suspect she was murdered” for possibly being a witness in another “hit murder” that occurred in a house opposite her home.
“None of her personal belongings were taken, thus robbery as motive has been ruled out,” Beege said.
He said the murder Dywili may have witnessed happened on Saturday, 12 August.
“The victim in this murder, Makhaya Witness Mdoko, 43 years old,was shot through his front door. The door was then forced open and the victim shot again. He died from several head and chest wounds,” he added.
Meanwhile, Beetge said police arrested a 22-year-old male suspect in the early hours of Wednesday morning for “another hit murder that took place on 5 August 2017 in Nijomo Street, Soweto-on-Sea.”
“In this case the bodies of a male and female that were shot several times were found in a house at 06:15. The victims, a 22-year-old man, Sithembiso Salaze, and a 17-year-old woman, Sinesipho Zondani, were murdered in what police suspect to be a revenge attack in a drug feud.”
He is due in court soon.
