PE woman arrested for alleged identity theft

Port Elizabeth police have arrested a thirty five-year old woman in New Brighton for allegedly using other people's identity documents to open accounts all over town.

Police spokesperson, captain Andre' Beetge, says the woman allegedly took out personal loans in their names, purchased furniture and clothing and then re-sold the goods.

He says police suspect that she had been running the scam for about two years.

Beetge says police recovered numerous bank cards, fraudulent documentation and identity documents.

The suspect will appear in New Brighton Magistrates court soon.
