A teenager is expected to appear in the Nerina House Juvenile court in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday where he will be charged with rape.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg says the 16-year-old was arrested at his house in Bethelsdorp on Monday for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl from Booysens Park, earlier this month.
She says on 9 January the girl was swimming with her friends at a local dam, and when she got out of the water to get changed, she was approached by two men.
The victim was forced into the bushes where she was raped by both of them.
Janse van Rensburg says the victim's friends informed her parents who opened a case with SAPS.
She says their investigation led them to the Qunu area in Bethelsdorp where they arrested the first suspect.
The second suspect is still at large and the investigation is continuing.
