PE teen gunned down as he runs away from attackers

Port Elizabeth police are investigating the murder of an 18-year-old man who was shot and killed in Zwide on Monday night.

Police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge says Asenathi Marale was shot and killed in Kovu Street in what appeared to have been a targeted killing.

He says Marale was with his girlfriend when two unknown men wearing hoodies approached them from behind and started firing as he tried to flee.

The attackers took his cell phone which he had thrown to the ground, before fleeing the scene.

His girlfriend was unharmed.
