Police in Port Elizabeth arrested a teenager on Tuesday for being in possession of a rifle.
Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says members of the anti-gang unit were looking for wanted suspects in Kleinskool when they noticed a suspicious man walking in Main Road.
She says the youth walked around with an empty potato bag which to them seemed suspicious.
When the unit stopped to search the suspect they found a rifle with the serial number filed off, inside the bag.
The 17-year-old was detained on a charge of illegally possessing a firearm.
