PE taxi driver murdered

Community members from Port Elizabeth made a gruesome discovery on Friday morning when they stumbled upon the body of a man in an open field.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu says the 34-year-old Jonathan Goliath was found at about 7.30 am in an open field near the Helenvale tip in Old Standford road.

She says Goliath, who was a taxi driver, sustained gunshots and stab wounds to his body.

He was last seen alive at 6 am.

The motive for the murder is unknown at this stage.
