A Port Elizabeth taxi driver has been found guilty of raping a teenage passenger in 2016.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says the 34-year-old Mongameli Jojo was convicted on Tuesday.
NPA spokesperson, Anelisa Ngcakani, says the 14-year-old victim and two younger siblings aged three and four, got into Jojo's taxi to go from their home to their grandmother's place.
She says instead of taking them to their grandmother, Jojo drove to a cemetery where he raped the teenager in front of her siblings.
Ngcakani says after the rape Jojo stole her sneakers and threatened to shoot her, even though he did not produce a firearm.
He then dropped them off at their grandmother's house.
Jojo has been in custody since his arrest in 2016.
The case was postponed to 26 November 2020 for the pre-sentence report and the victim impact statement.
