PE schools close doors amid non-payment of temp teachers

One Port Elizabeth primary school has sent the children home because temporary teachers have not been paid.
Officials from Triomf Primary School in Salsoneville will be going to the Department of Education on Friday to seek answers.
Its understood that the five temporary teachers at the school have not been paid by the Department of Education for several months.
The school, which has nearly a thousand learners, will open again on Monday.
Recently parents at Astra Primary School in Bloemendal was closed the school one day last week and on Monday in protest against temporary teachers not being paid.
The schools is functioning normally today but a source said they will wait to see if the Department fulfills its promise to formally appoint three of the five temporary teachers and if they will be paid.
