Port Elizabeth police are investigating a murder and attempted murder following two shooting incidents in the city's Northern Areas Friday night.
Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Alwin Labans, said 27-year-old Clinton Brandt, was shot dead in Lawler Street in Schauderville.
He says Brandt was with some friends in front of a house when three men approached and began assaulting him.
Labans says one of the men drew a firearm and shot Brandt several times in the chest.
He died on the scene.
Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man was shot and wounded in the arm in another shooting incident reported in Extension Six in Malabar.
He said a group of people were standing in front of a house when three men approached. Labans said one man pulled out a firearm and fired several shots.
No arrests were made in either cases.
Meanwhile, police in Arcardia, Port Elizabeth, rescued a 22-year-old man from an irate community after he allgedly knocked down and killed a three-year-old boy.
Labans said the accident happened in Lentoor Street early last night.
He said angry residents began stoning the man's bakkie after the crash, forcing police to intervene and remove the driver and a passenger to the nearby police station.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened.
