PE's 'mob justice dad' to apply for bail on Valentines Day

A Port Elizabeth father who allegedly led a deadly attack on a man accused of raping his 7-year-old daughter will apply for bail next week.

The 36-year-old Simphiwe Yanta made another appearance in court on Thursday where he faces a charge of murder following the brutal killing of 52-year-old Mava Fundakubi in Motherwell last month.

Yanta handed himself over to police after it was discovered that his daughter had in fact, not been raped.

The deceased's sister, Neliswa, who was at Thursday's court proceedings told Algoa FM News that the family was concerned at how the accused came to the conclusion that her brother was responsible.

The accused's wife took their daughter to a clinic where it as confirmed that no rape took place.

Yanta will apply for bail on the 14th of February.
