PE robbery suspect arrested in Booysens Park


A 32 -year-old suspect involved in several armed robbery cases in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth, has been arrested after a shoot out with police.

Captain Andre' Beetge said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning after he was traced by the Motherwell Operational Command Centre and Kwadwesi police.

Beetge said when police arrived at a shack in Greenfields in Booysens Park the suspect came out guns blazing and fired several shots at police members.

Beetge said police fired one shot in return and arrested the suspect.

No one was injured in the shooting and a firearm was confiscated.

The suspect is due to appear in the New Brighton Magistrate's Court on Thursday where he will face a charge relating to a previous robbery case and an attempted murder charge for the latest shooting.

Meanwhile, two suspects have been arrested for possession of stolen property and pointing a firearm in East London.

Captain Nkosikho Mzuku said the men aged 35 and 43 were arrested following a sting operation where several electronic repair shops were searched.

Mzuku said six computers were recovered during the operation.

East London police are urging people that have lost their computers due to burglaries to contact the police.
