Police in Port Elizabeth are urgently seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a man who is believed to have raped a 21-year-old woman near Baywest Mall last month.
Spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said the young woman who was on her way to work was walking in the bushes between the Grogro Squatter settlement and the shopping centre when the unknown man approached her at about 9:00 a.m on the 14th of August.
He then asked her if she had seen two other men and when she said no, he pulled out a knife and ordered her into the bushes where he allegedly raped her.
Naidu said she, however, managed to escape and informed her neighbour who was walking nearby to where the incident occurred.
The suspect is believed to be between the ages of 20-25 years old and is about 1.6 metres tall.
