The Gauteng businesswoman who survived a rape ordeal in Port Elizabeth continues her quest for justice as she will present her case before the Constitutional Court on Tuesday next week.
Eleven years ago, Andy Kawa was gang-raped for hours by men who threatened her with a knife along Kings Beach in PE.
She went for a stroll shortly before going to the airport to return to Johannesburg when she was abducted in broad daylight, dragged into nearby dunes, where she was assaulted and raped by more than one man.
Her attackers were never caught.
Kawa feels that police had not done enough to investigate the matter and launched a civil claim against the State in 2018.
Kawa won her case, but the police appealed and the Supreme Court of Appeal ruled in their favour.
