Five suspects arrested for the rape and murder of a Port Elizabeth teenager will remain behind bars.
They were arrested over the weekend after the body of 14-year-old Patronicia Jordaan, was found in bushes between Gelvandale and Algoa Park last Thursday.
She had several stab wounds.
In an earlier statement police said that Jordaan had been in the company of 12 males at a house in Bongo Street that Wednesday where drugs were taken and she was allegedly gang-raped.
Her body was discovered the following day.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla, said the five appeared in court on Monday afternoon.
"The case was remanded to 24 March and they remain in custody. The investigation continues and police are still searching for the outstanding suspects," she said.
