Two people were killed and two others, including a 4-year-old girl, were injured in an accident in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth on Monday.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said a Toyota Tazz with four occupants, apparently made a wide turn into Tyinira Street after allegedly failing to stop at the stop sign.
She said according to information the vehicle turned into the path of an oncoming truck, which hit the car from the front, while at the same time a bus, travelling straight on the road, hit the car from behind.
“The Toyota Tazz vehicle was sandwiched by both vehicles,” Naidu said.
She said the 35-year-old driver and a 39-year-old woman died on the scene. Another woman, aged 40, and the little girl were rushed to a hospital.
“Both the truck and bus drivers did not sustain any injuries. The bus was empty at the time and the truck driver was alone in his vehicle,” Naidu said.
Police have opened a culpable homicide case for investigation.
