A 31 year old police constable was shot and killed in KwaZakhele, Port Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon.
Spokersperson, Constable Mncedi Mbombo says the policeman was off duty, and sitting in a tavern, when two armed men entered and shot him without saying a word.
He died on the scene.
Mbombo says the suspects shot the policeman seven times and then fled the scene in a white VW Citi golf.
The motive for the shooting is unknown, and police have opened a murder docket.
