A Port Elizabeth policeman who was wounded in an attack on Monday remains in a stable condition in hospital.
Thirty-five-year-old constable Nathaniel Mqina was shot in the neck and jaw by an unknown number of gunmen while on patrol in Veeplaas early Monday morning.
His female colleague, 33-year-old constable Tandiswa Bambiso, died after being hit in the head and chest. Both had been wearing bullet proof vests.
Police spokesperson, captain Andre' Beetge, says no arrests have yet been made but the manhunt for the killers is continuing.
Eastern Cape Safety MEC, Helen Sauls-August, called on all police members to protect themselves against gun-toting criminals who threaten their lives, by shooting to kill.
