Port Elizabeth police have welcomed the lengthy jail sentences imposed this week on two known gang members from the city's Northern Areas.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says Virgil Williams, was jailed for an effective eight years on Monday.
He was convicted on four charges of attempted murder as well as the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Janse Van Rensburg says he still has a murder case pending.
Meanwhile, another known gang member, Ryno Kannemeyer was jailed for an effective 17 years on Wednesday - also on charges of attempted murder.
