PE police report second home invasion in 24 hours


 Port Elizabeth police have reported a second major home invasion in the past 24 hours.

Police spokesperson captain Stanley Jarvis, says three men broke into a townhouse in Greenshields Park in the early hours Tuesday morning, tying up the 48-year-old home-owner.

He says they removed a large quantity of household items including flat screen TV's, Apple I-Mac computers and other goods.

Jarvis says when the men realised they could not carry everything they untied their victim and forced her to drive them to Walmer Township where they off-loaded the goods.

He says the woman then returned at alerted police.

Meanwhile Port Elizabeth police are searching for three men following a break-in at a luxury townhouse complex in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth.

Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says the men, armed with knives, gained entry to the townhouse in Second Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday by removing the burglar-proofing on one of the windows of the property.

He says they confronted the 37-year-old home-owner in his kitched and then proceeded to tie him up along with his wife and one of their sons.

Jarvis says the robbers ransacked the house, stealing electronic goods worth tens of thousands of rands.

He says the man's six year old son, who was not tied up, freed them before police were called to the scene.
