Haval H1

A police detective in Port Elizabeth is searching for the driver of a maroon coloured Haval H1 who is believed to have dumped a newborn baby in the Westbrook area in Kabega Park in April.

Police obtained video footage taken on the 26th of April at 9.25 am showing a woman, in the Haval, stopping at an open field near a school in Westbrook.

The woman got out of the driver's side of the vehicle and was seen throwing a black bag into the bushes, before driving off.

A few days later, on the morning of the 2nd of May, a vagrant was rummaging through the rubbish bags when he found the naked baby boy hidden in clothing.

The body was already decomposing.

A post mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Police are now searching for the woman in the video.

Any person with info can contact Detective Sergeant Chantall Joubert at Kabega Park SAPS on 082 739 5959
