Port Elizabeth police are investigating the death of a woman more than two weeks after she was assaulted.
Police spokesperson, captain Stanley Jarvis, says the body of 49-year-old Francis Isaacs was found in her Hickery Street home in Arcadia late yesterday afternoon.
He says the woman was allegedly assaulted on the 2nd of January, and went to the Livingstone hospital two days later.
She was discharged on the 6th but her health allegedly deteriorated since then.
Jarvis says police have opened an inquest docket but depending on the outcome of the autopsy, it may change to a murder investigation.
