Port Elizabeth police have confirmed that the body of the missing triathlete, David Bellet-Brissaud has been found in the city's harbour.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said police divers returned to the harbour on Thursday morning after new CCTV footage came to light.
"Throughout the day we had been viewing video footage at the harbour. We had seen new video footage that had come to light. Thereafter we mobilised our search and rescue team once more and since about 10 am had been, once again, sweeping the harbour," Naidu said.
She said this time around police had taken their search and rescue K9 dogs into the water and at one part of the harbour the dogs "reacted very strongly".
"Our divers were called in and we have retrieved a body, " she said.
Bellet-Brissaud went missing nearly a week ago from the Paxton Hotel where he and his wife Jessica had booked in last Thursday.
He was due to take part in the Standard Bank Ironman Africa Championship, but mysteriously left his hotel in the early hours of Friday morning and has not been seen since.
