Motherwell Cluster Commander, Major General Dawie Rabie, says Port Elizabeth police cannot allow a community to transform into killers and to take the law into their own hands.
He was reacting to the murders of two young men in the early hours of Friday morning.
At around 2.30 am, Motherwell police were alerted by the family of the first deceased that a group of people had kidnapped a 23 year-old man and another man from his home in Mtanezulu Street, NU11, Motherwell.
They told police that the group took them into the bushes near Shuku Shukuma.
On police arrival the burning body of 23 year old Andile Mtana was found.
At about 08h00 the body of the second man was found in the same vicinity.
It is speculated that the motive for the killings is that the community suspected them of the murder, and possible rape, of a 60 year old woman - Nomathemba Goliath - whose body was found early on Thursday in her house in Mbayisa Street, Shuku Shukuma.
