PE police arrest murder suspects and seize firearms


Intensive policing in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro has resulted in the arrest of several suspects during Christmas-season festivities the past three days.

Colonel Priscilla Naidu reports that a number of people were arrested for housebreaking, robbery, murder and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

Three firearms were confiscated and two suspects arrested in separate incidents on Christmas day and Boxing day in Kwazakele and in Bloemendal.

 

Meanwhile: Three suspects are due to appear in court on Monday on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Colonel Naidu says a 59-year-old Kwazakele man was arrested for the attempted  murder of his sister’s boyfriend on the night of Christmas Day after police responded to a complaint of assault at a house in Mkuze Street.

The victim had been stabbed several times and had already been taken to hospital prior to the arrival of the police. arrival.

 

In the early hours of Saturday morning, 34-year-old  Asanda Maqoko was stabbed to death following an argument with a man outside a house in Nqabara Street in Motherwell.

The suspect ran away but was arrested hours later by the police.

And, a 28-year-old woman will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s court on Monday on a charge of murder.

Colonel Naidu says a group of people were drinking inside a building in the early hours of Sunday morning when the woman stabbed a 30-year-old man in the chest after he allegedly touched her hair.

The man died on the scene and the woman was detained a short while later.
