Police have released the name of the pilot who was killed when his plane crashed in the Greenbushes area of Port Elizabeth on Tuesday.
Police spokesperson, warrant officer Alwin Labans, says he was 57-year-old retired businessman Allan John Combrink, of Oak Avenue, Constantia Heights in Cape Town.
Combrink, who had a commercial pilot's license, was killed when his Beechcraft Baron went down on a farm Tuesday afternoon about 15 minutes after taking off from the Port Elizabeth airport where he had brought his plane for repairs.
An investigator from the Civil Aviation Authority has been dispatched to probe the cause of the tragedy.
