A 60-year-old grandmother is due to appear in the Willowvale magistrates' court on Wednesday in connection with the murder of her granddaughter.
Police spokesperson, Captain Jackson Manatha, says she allegedly murdered her on Sunday.
However, neither the grandmother, the baby's aunt, nor the mother reported the death and kept the body in their home overnight.
Police only became aware of the death on Monday and the grandmother was then arrested.
Manatha says the motive for the murder is not known.
