East London police have arrested three Port Elizabeth men for perlemoen poaching.
Police spokesperson, Captian Stephen Marais, says they were alerted about diving activities at Kidds Beach and arrested two suspects at about ten o'clock last night.
A third was apprehended a short while later in a police trap, with the assistance of one of the two who were already under arrest.
Marais says they seized 178 de-shelled abalone, with a street value of R36,000.
Police also seized diving equipment and a vehicle, estimated at R60,000.
Police divers returned to the crime scene this morning, as they believe that more perlemoen was hidden in the surf.
Marais says they expect to make at least two more arrests soon.
