A member of the Booi family said they are still in shock following the triple murder of a 45-year-old mother and her daughters in Govan Mbeki township in Port Elizabeth.
Nomathemba Booi, her 19-year-old daughter, Noluvuyo and 15-year-old Asemahle were shot dead execution-style in their home on Tuesday morning.
Booi's 25 year old son,Mkwuseli, notified the police after he woke up to gun shots.
A relative, Anele Pono spoke at prayer session led by the Nelson Mandela Bay chief whip, Litho Suka, at the Booi home at Stofile Street today.
He said the family is not only emotionally distraught but they are also struggling financially.
Pono says Nomathemba was a single parent who earned a living by selling tea at a taxi rank and the family cannot afford to bury them.
He said the deceased are still at a government mortuary, they need help for them to be released to a funeral parlour , he added that they have found a cheap funeral home but they still cannot afford it.
"Every single member is in pain,because this is really a shocking matter no one expected this. I do not even have words to put this thing. I am still in shock... i'm shaking where I am standing now" he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Whip Suko said the municipality is urging the community to work with the police by providing any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.
Suko said they will monitor the case until the suspects are apprehended
He added that help will be provided to the Booi family where necessary.
" We wish that the security cluster led by the police will move swiftly in investigating and apprehending the perpetrators. As the Municipality,as the chief whip's office we will see what best we can do in support of this family" he said.
The funeral will be held next weekend at eXesi, in Middledrift, north-west of East London.
