A Port Elizabeth man charged with the murder of 47-year-old Donovan Berry in a gangland slaying has also been charged with the murder of a 12-year-old girl.
Aliya “Angel” Tee died when gunmen stormed into her family's Bethelsdorp home on 7 June and opened fire.
Her father was wounded while her mother, reportedly the intended target, escaped unharmed.
The attack on the Tee family came just over a month after Berry died in a hail of bullets in Bethelsdorp on 3 May.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says 23-year-old Deon Harmse, alias Kwas, was arrested on Wednesday by members of the police intervention team.
The arrest was made shortly after he appeared in court in connection with Berry's murder.
His was remanded in custody to 21 July when he will appear in court for both cases.
Naidu says the "SAPS has condemned this attack and senseless killing of an innocent child in the strongest terms.”
“The Deputy National Commissioner responsible for National Management Interventions, Lieutenant General Gary Kruser has acknowledged the speed at which the joint police team in partnership with the communities tracked and eventually arrested a suspect.”
The investigation continues.
