PE mom and toddler reunited following kidnapping

There were happy scenes at the Algoa Park police station in Port Elizabeth today where a mother was reunited with her little girl.

Three-year-old Roxanne Stuurman was abducted on the 10th of June, allegedly by her mother's former boyfriend.

The child was found unharmed in Fort Beaufort and returned home.

Algoa FM News spoke to Portia Stuurman and asked how she felt while Roxanne was gone and how good it was to have her back.

"It was not nice. I did not even eat or sleep. I was up and down like a mad person. I am happy, just to see my child, I am really happy" she said.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the Stuurman's former boyfriend has been taken in to custody.

She says he is being held at Algoa Park police station and will appear in court on Monday on a charge of kidnapping.

Janse Van Rensburg also explains how police made the breakthrough after Roxanne had been missing for nearly three weeks.

"We had information that he could be in the Fort Beaufort area and then we had our task teams and informants in the area. They then received information and at about 9pm on Thursday they went to the house and found the man with the child. This morning we took her to the doctor for some medical tests, but everything is in order" she said.
