The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality says it is aware of the challenges regarding the Feathermarket centre - specifically maintenance issues.
A flood of comments is doing the rounds on social media following the Music at the Market festival which took place at the Feather Market at the weekend.
Metro spokesperson, Mtubanzi Mniki says they are planning to start fixing the problems in July this year.
He says in the next financial year there will only be only minor renovations that will be done from the 'Operating Budget' but in the following year, money will be set aside in the Capital Budget when the Market will be closed down for renovations.
Renowned conductor Richard Cock, who is originally from PE, conducted the Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra at the show and told Algoa FM News it was sad to see the Feather Market in such a sad state of disrepair.
He specifically raised the issue of the air conditioning not working and the lighting being a challenge.
Some members of the public took to social media to also complain about smelly carpets and general filth around the building.
