Two Port Elizabeth men were killed and a third seriously injured in a case of mob justice.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, said police held an urgent meeting on Friday with members of the Walmer Township community following incident on Thursday.
She said community accused the victims of committing robberies in the area.
Naidu said they were severely assaulted leading to the deaths of the two men.
The third person is in critical condition in hospital.
The head of Walmer Visibile Policing, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdoerahgmaan Humphries, issued a warning to community members and perpetrators.
"There is no justification whatsoever in acts of mob justice by members of the communities and perpetrators of such crimes will face the full might of the law" he said.
He also emphasised that the incidents were unjustifiable.
"These incidents is unjustifiable and that one cannot resolve crime by committing crime," he added.
Humphries urged the communities to report alleged perpetrators to the police either voluntarily or anonymously using the 08600 10111 number or the local police station.
