Mossel Bay family holds no grudge after neighbour opens fire


A Mossel Bay family says they hold no grudges after their neighbour fired more than 15 shots at them through a closed bathroom door.

The 30-year-old Johan de Bruyn was arrested on Sunday night after he opened fire on Willeon van Deventer, his wife Annabell and their 17-year-old daughter.According to police, De Bruyn accused Willeon's son of hitting his car where after he opened fire.

Police say however, De Bruyn's accusation is untrue.De Bruyn shot at the Van Deventers while they were hiding in their bathroom. Willeon was shot in his leg, his wife Annabell in her ankle and their daughter in her arm and leg.

The three victims survived the ordeal.In the meantime De Bruyn was found dead in the police holding cells on Monday morning.

It appears that he hanged himself with his t-shirt.

The charges against De Bruyn can therefore not be investigated.
De Bruyn was laid to rest on Friday.
Police opened an inquest docket.
