Two Port Elizabeth men have been found not guilty of murdering a man on a smallholding in 2010.
However, high court acting judge, Justin Laing, convicted Khangelani Matebe and Fundile Nqwensu on Wednesday, on charges of housebreaking and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
In acquitting the men of the murder of 86-year-old Jan Bergman, justice Laing said the state could not prove a charge of murder due to a lack of evidence.
Bergman was stabbed and severely assaulted on his smallholding in July 2010 and died the following month in hospital.
The case has been postponed to the 4th of April for a pre-sentencing report.
