PE men denied bail in child sex case

A Port Elizabeth judge has denied bail to two men who have been charged with the rape and sexual assault of two minor girls.

Making his ruling on Thursday, acting judge, Justin Lang, said it would not be in the best of interest of justice to grant bail.

He says the men, aged 38 and 47, did not meet the criteria for exceptional circumstances.

They will be remanded in custody at St Albans prison.

Meanwhile, state prosecutor Hanlie Bakker, told Algoa FM News that the state will not entertain any plea bargain with respect to the woman accused in this matter.

She says this will depend on the facts on which she pleads guilty to and the findings of the psychological and psychiatric assessment of the 39-year-old woman.

All three will be back in court again on the 12th of August.
