 Port Elizabeth police have arrested a 23-year-old man who allegedly snatched a necklace from a woman in her car.

Police spokesperson, captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, says several cases have already been reported to police in Mount Road, Humewood, Walmer and Kabega Park.

She's issued an advisory to female motorists in particular, not to drive around with open windows and to be more alert at traffic lights.

Janse van Rensburg says the suspect will appear in court soon.
