A 25-year-old Port Elizabeth man was arrested shortly after he is alleged to have fatally stabbed a 43-year-old Cotswold resident.
Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg, says the incident happened in William Street on Tuesday morning following an argument between the suspect and the deceased, identified as Bobby Matthews.
She says Matthews and his brother went to his flat at 10 am when they spotted the suspect at the entrance of the complex.
The suspect, who is known to the victim, approached him at the gate and an argument broke out.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says the suspect allegedly stabbed Matthews in the neck, before fleeing the scene.
Matthews was rushed to hospital by his brother where he later succumbed to his injury.
Captain Janse van Rensburg says after members responded to the incident they received information that the suspect was standing at a nearby shop where he was subsequently arrested.
He is expected to appear at the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court this week.
