The provincial gang investigation unit is investigating a case of murder after a man was found lying dead in the street in Port Elizabeth's Northern Areas on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Marlon Koopman.
He had been shot multiple times.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, says the visible gang intervention unit was patrolling Rensburg Street in Bethelsdorp around 9 am when they saw a group of people gathered on the road.
They went to investigate and found Koopman lying on the ground with several gunshot wounds to the body.
It's not known if he was affiliated to any gang and no arrests have been made.
