A 54-year-old Port Elizabeth man was shot during the early hours of Sunday morning, after two men allegedly broke into a house in Motherwell, looking for alcohol.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Pricilla Naidu says it is alleged that the complainant and his 35-year old friend were sleeping when two unknown men kicked opened the kitchen door and entered.
She says they demanded alcohol from them and when they were informed that there was none, one of the suspects tried to fire a shot, but the firearm jammed and they ran away.
Naidu says the suspects returned a few minutes later, and once again demanded alcohol when two shots were fired, one hitting the complainant in the shoulder.
The suspects fled and a case of attempted murder is under investigation.
