Port Elizabeth police are searching for the gunmen who shot and killed a man who was being stretchered to an ambulance in Kwazakhele.
Police spokesperson, Mcedi Mbombo, says state paramedics had been called out to a shooting in Kalipa Street where a 24-year-old man had been shot and injured.
He said the man was being loaded into the ambulance when gunmen appeared and opened fire killing him.
No arrests have been made.
Meanwhile, Eastern Cape Health Department spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, has condemned the incident.
"Fortunately crew members escaped unhurt, however we are extremely concerned about these incidents. it is the third one where our crew members found themselves in the crossfire or being the targets of criminal elements. We would like to urge members of the community to protect our staff members" he said.
