Port Elizabeth police are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing a suspect, or suspects, involved in the murder of a 25-year-old man in Missionvale.
Colonel Pricilla Naidu says police attended to a complaint of a shooting in Balfour Heights late on Saturday evening, where they found spent cartridges at the corners of Corsa and Acadian Streets.
She says while they were still busy at the scene, it was reported that a dead person was lying in the yard of a house in Acadian Street.
He sustained gunshot wounds to the upper leg and was identified as Frederick Jansen who lived in the area.
Naidu says the motive and the circumstances that led to his death are unknown at this stage.
Anyone who can assist police in their investigation is asked to the Algoa Park police station.
