A man was shot and killed on Thursday afternoon during a car hijacking in Algoa Park, Port Elizabeth.
Police captain Johann Rheeder says the incident took place at lunch time in Boekenhoud Street.
He says the 60-year old deceased was selling cars at an informal dealership in the area when four men approached him and asked to go for a test drive in one of his vehicles.
Rheeder says the salesman was shot once through the heart as he got out of the car at the end of the test drive.
He died at the scene.
The four suspects fled in the car, a silver Fiat with the Beaufort West registration number CZ 482-167.
Rheeder says the fugitives are armed and must be considered as extremely dangerous.
The name of the deceased will only be released when his next of kin have been informed.
